News: Increased Subsidy for High-Cost Areas
The FCC has adopted rules to increase the monthly ACP benefit from $30 to $75 for those qualifying households living in rural, high-cost areas. A high-cost area “means an unserved area in which the cost of building out broadband service is higher, as compared with the average cost of building out broadband service in unserved areas in the United States.”
The NTIA will be working with the FCC, states, and territories to define which areas will be eligible for the increased benefit.
Once approved, the applicant may receive up to four reminder emails from USAC to connect their ACP benefit with an Internet Service Provider.
